Merry Christmas!

This year for Christmas we decided to stay home and celebrate as our own little family. It would have been fun to go visit family, but Shilo had already taken a week off work for Thanksgiving. And we thought it was a little too close to baby girl's due date to travel too far from home. So since we weren't going anywhere we decided to fill our days with fun holiday activities. We ...

Put up the Christmas tree and decorations.

Built a snowman.

Shilo and I took turns gift shopping for each other.

Made sugar cookies. LOTS of sugar cookies.

Listened to Christmas music.

Watched a Christmas movie.

Went to look at lights on "Christmas Street" in Taylorsville, UT.

Drank hot chocolate.

Went bowling. Eli loved it :)

Ate way too many treats. Thanks to all the people in our ward at church.

Unwrapped Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve.

And of course opened presents on Christmas morning!!!

Christmas morning is always exciting, but I think having Eli makes it even more exciting. I don't think he quite understood the concept of "Christmas" and "Santa", but he definitely enjoyed opening his presents. We even practiced opening presents on Christmas Eve when we opened our new pj's from Grandma Melanie (thanks!). Eli absolutely loved the wrapping paper! 

On Christmas morning we put our gifts into piles and told Eli to open them. He needed a little help getting started, but once he saw there was something under the paper he got excited. The first gift he opened was a little John Deere tractor. As soon as he saw what it was he wanted to play with it. Immediately! Of course we had to take off all the packaging. Why do they make those things so hard to open? Anyways, once he had his tractor he was a happy boy and didn't want to open any other presents.

After a little bit of coaxing from us Eli finally decided to open some other presents. I think he was glad that he did. He got some Hot Wheels cars, a truck with a dinosaur in it, a couple of puzzles, and of course some clothes. What more could a little boy ask for? 

Shilo and I enjoyed or presents too. 

 

After opening presents we spent the day relaxing, talking to family on the phone/skyping, playing with our new gifts, and preparing/eating our delicious Christmas dinner. It was a great day!
